Commissions are personal, but not complicated.
Through our initial conversation, I’ll assess your needs in color scheme and what size of abstract painting fits best. I’ll help guide you through the entire process so you end up with a custom-made piece that you love for your home. After listening to your needs, I’ll do a few sketches to give you a vision of the painting. Once we’ve communicated on time frame and price, I get to work creating the commission just for you!

How long does it take?
On average, Brooke Harris abstract art pieces take about 6-8 weeks to create. Starting the conversation with me gets you on the list.
How much does it cost?
Since pieces vary in time, size, complexity, and material, I don’t have a standard price. However, before I begin to paint we will make sure to go over all the details including price and timeframe. A 50% deposit is required to begin work with the balance due upon completion.
Is each piece one of a kind?
Yes! Every piece is created for a specific client. Each stroke of paint and abstract form is unique to the client’s wants and personality making it a totally one-of-a-kind piece of abstract art.
Do you help with installation?
Yes! I am happy to guide clients as to what size painting is best for their spaces. Upon completion of the commission, I will deliver and help install the piece so it looks its best. Each painting comes varnished to preserve it for years to come. I also install hanging hardware and wire to each piece for easy installation.

How My Painting Journey Began
I fell in love with art at an early age - constantly sketching or crafting new things made out of bits of glitter and tissue paper. I took every art class I could in high school, winning awards and the admiration of my teachers, but I thought I needed to do something responsible and to “get a real job”, so I gave it up in college.
But after some major soul searching and prayer, I’m back to my first love of painting. I’m an abstract artist who brings joy and life to thoughtfully designed spaces through my custom art pieces.
I live in the beautiful horse country of Lexington, KY, and have a B.A. in Journalism (minor in art) and MFA in Writing. I live with my two spirited daughters and my incredibly supportive husband.
With abstract acrylic techniques, I like to create pieces that are scenes of time and space. While most of my paintings are non-referential, they are strangely familiar and evoke memory and emotion. They depict metaphors of something greater than the physical: a spiritual reality expressed in paint.
I love getting to work with clients who know the importance of creativity and artwork in their spaces. Abstract paintings of mine can be seen at the University of Kentucky Hospital, Artique Gallery, and Art House among other boutiques.

Why Abstract Art?
Years ago, as a young artist, I thought that the best art was that which was the most realistic. I painstakingly dabbed lime green pastels to the paper to draw an apple so realistic you reached out to touch it. While it was impressive, it didn’t make me or the viewer feel anything, but a little admiration for the talent.
Unlike that realistic drawing of an apple, abstract artwork is powerful. It makes you feel something because each viewer looks at the piece with his or her own background, memories, and life experiences. Each painting stirs the soul and can invoke emotions and what it is to be human.
